Next week is exciting for us: after months away we are returning to KERB not only at the new Kings X home of Granary Square but also with them on the Southbank over the weekend.
This holds a special place in our hearts since it was on those very paving stones behind the Royal Festival Hall that we first found ourselves scooping ice cream in Petra’s Choc Star van before quitting the office and taking it over for the summer. With so much excitement and anticipation in our hearts, the weeks hunched over the feezer in her van there were hugely formative for us, fuelling our itinerant spirit and pushing us to leave the 9-5 race and find a new future on our own terms.
Well, we have found it, and are still finding it, and can’t wait to roll back there in our big old truck and do the place justice once more over the summer months. A busy week with Kings X on Thursday, the Southbank all weekend – so whether you’re north or south (or east or west), come and join the fun and celebrate KERB in the city.
All good things must come to an end and Hawker House was sadly no exception. What a winter it was. Who knew we could do indoor street food so well in cold old LDN?
Our five weeks there were rammed with food, friends and future memories and we are so happy and excited to be part of Street Feast’s ever-evolving food party odyssey.
There is an exciting summer to come so watch this space and get hungry in the meantime.
The second Vintage Car Boot at Southbank was all we hoped it would be, and more. For two glorious riverside days, the sun came out if hiding and spring firmly unfurled. It was double the food and double the fun as beautiful old cars and wares mixed seamlessly in with the bright modern cityscape and our summer street food souls came happily out of a long winter with gratitude and hunger.
Here are some pics. We were also in charge of my friend’s very small sausage dog for the day and he was the toast of the town and a gung ho rainbo recruit.
This weekend it’s out last at Hawker House so come on down and give us all a proper send off before Street Feast 2014 rolls on into summer…..
